CHEESE & CRACKERS TRAIL RACE
What a weekend!
If you weren’t at the Cheese and Crackers Trail Race, you were truly missing out. In the beautiful village of Hartington, 121 people joined together for a sunny trail run (and some cheese). Runners came from all over to take part in the long and short routes, through the rolling green hills of the peak district.
Whether people came to chase a new personal best or to enjoy a gentle jog with friends, the atmosphere was warm, inclusive, and full of good energy.
And the reward? Delicious local cheese and crackers kindly provided by The Hartington Cheese Shop at the finish line, because what better way to celebrate a run through the countryside. As someone wise once said “We’re here to run, have fun and eat cheese”
Trails for good is an inspirational CBO (community-based organisation) founded by a husband-and-wife team with a shared passion for running, nature and giving back to the community.
Every event they host supports local businesses and environmental causes with the entry fees. The Cheese and Crackers Trail funded the Hartington Cheese Shop (who generously provided the goodie bags), covered the Village Hall rental, and helped pay the Peak District Foundation.

Beyond their local impact, Trails For Good are also supporting trail repair and nature regeneration projects across the peak district. At the start of 2025 they committed to donating to the Peak District Foundation, which helps maintain and restore all those beautiful places we love to visit.
If you not only want to support an amazing organisation but are also looking for a welcoming and vibrant group of people to run with, whether you are a trail veteran or a first-time adventure seeker, sign up for the Beer and Pudding Trail Races, 22nd of March 2026! We look forward to seeing you there.
