POWER OUR WINTERS: PFAS TALK
We had the incredible opportunity to attend the POW Snow Show in London, the UK’s biggest snow show. We were honoured to be guest speakers on the Sustainability Stage, answering technical and practical questions to help develop people’s understanding of aftercare and its vital role in protecting both their gear and the environment.
For those who aren’t familiar, POW (Protect Our Winters) is an environmental charity driven by passionate outdoor enthusiasts who are working to protect the environment and our winters from the impacts of climate change.
Their latest campaign, “Clean Miles”, focuses on sustainable transport, encouraging us all to think about how we travel to the outdoor places we love. So, it felt fitting that the London Snow Show, with thousands of outdoor lovers under one roof, became a hub for conversations about positive change.
Our talk dove into a topic that’s becoming increasingly important in the outdoor industry: PFAS, often referred to as forever chemicals. These compounds have long been used in waterproof outdoor gear due to their durable water repellency but growing environmental and health concerns have led to new regulations and a much-needed shift toward cleaner, safer alternatives.
We want to say a huge thank you to POW and the London Snow Show team for inviting us to be part of such a meaningful event. It was an honour to represent the aftercare community as the guest speaker on the Sustainability Stage and to help raise awareness about the small but powerful steps we can all take to protect our planet for generations to come.
